IMPORTANT NOTE FROM NURSE LASHON

We continue to have children bring meds to school inappropriately.  An adult must bring in any medication and fill out the proper form.  Parents can sign for any OTC medication but any prescription medication must be accompanied with a form signed by their physician.  This is the actual doctor’s order that the state looks for during an audit.  I know this is confusing to many parents.  This includes cough drops, peppermints are allowed.  The risk is in children sharing products that might be harmful to others with certain allergies. I realize that this is just something else for all of us to monitor but the safety of our students is my concern.  Also if you could mention that I am only able to give what each individual parent brings for their particular child, that would be so helpful.  I am asked many times a day can’t you just give him/her a Tylenol.  This is frowned upon by the state and is not acceptable.
